What are the BEST restaurants in Yarmouth? What is a dish I can’t get anywhere else? I’m planning to bring the family to the Cape for Thanksgiving--who does a great holiday meal? Where can I find the best clam chowder?
These are questions I get asked on a regular basis, which is why I’m excited to share this Culinary Tour of Yarmouth.
As a Cape Codder and long time Real Estate Agent, I’ve been blessed with a lifetime of many meals in Yarmouth (some more delicious than others). What distinguishes Yarmouth from most Cape Cod towns is the diversity of excellent cuisine. This list by no means covers them all, but it’s just enough so that if you came to Yarmouth for a long weekend, you might be able to have meal at each one of them.
When my friends, family members and clients are looking for a unique dining experience in Yarmouth, THIS LIST is the list that I give them. Each of these restaurants is a tried and true establishment my friends, family and I have dined at numerous times, trying as many menu items as possible over the years. I hope you enjoy your culinary tour of Yarmouth.

Business Lunch or Refined Breakfast

The Optimist Café
Looking for a great spot for breakfast or a polished lunch? You definitely have to check out The Optimist Café, located right on Route 6A in Yarmouth! I loved that I could have ordered a breakfast item at lunchtime if that was my fancy. I ended up having the roast beef wrap with horseradish aioli and sauteed onions with sweet potato fries on the side -- yummo!

Sushi and Fine Japanese Food

Inaho Japanese
When it comes to Japanese Restaurants on Cape Cod, Inhao takes the cake! People come from all over the Cape just to eat at this restaurant. Located along Yarmouth’s historic Route 6A, Inaho excels in delicious authentic Japanese cuisine, and has arguably the best sushi in the Cape Cod area (the Inaho Bento Box is one of my personal favorites!). When you go, be sure to check out their beautiful Japanese garden right outside the restaurant!

Authentic Jamaican Jerk (and a smile)
Source: Yelp
Jerk Cafe
If we didn’t tell you about it (and you didn’t hear about it from the Phantom Gourmet or Cape Cod Life Magazine), you might just drive by this gem tucked in a strip mall. Along with the delicious food (Chef Shrimpy’s jerk pork sandwich is a MUST have), what will truly capture your heart is Chef Shrimpy (owner) and his backstory. And maybe his singing. He is a ray of Jamaican sunshine, and his spirit comes through in all of his dishes.

‘Friendly’ Italian Food

The Four Seasons Trattoria
Housed in a building that was originally a Friendly’s Ice Cream franchise, The Four Seasons Trattoria is still friendly, but the cuisine has taken a quantum leap in sophistication. Their tagline, “We love to cook for you” stands true and is very apparent in their unparalleled service and their delicious food. If you go, you have to get the Linguine with Clam Sauce.

Special Occasion Dining

Old Yarmouth Inn
Full of history, character and charm, the Old Yarmouth Inn ranks high on our list! The restaurant offers a unique and timeless setting for fine dining and special occasions, and are especially known for their brunch buffet (If you go, treat yourself to an Aperol Spritz with your meal.). Built in 1696, the Old Yarmouth Inn is the oldest Inn on Cape Cod, and is located along historic Route 6A. Fun fact: The Inn is home to a mischievous ghost (or two...) who apparently has a great sense of humor. To learn more about the Inn’s encounters and stories, check out their About page here.

Meet Katie
Mother. Singer. Runner. Dog Parent. Realtor. Speaker. Cape Cod Local Expert. When I want the freshest oysters, I don’t go to the fish counter at the grocery store; I go to John, the East Dennis oyster guy. When my husband wants a perfectly tailored suit, we don’t go to the mall; we go to Puritan Clothing in Hyannis. When I want the best chocolate this side of the Alps I don’t go to the candy store, I go to The Hot Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans. A Cape Codder since I was a kid, I can find you the right house, bank, builder, school, auto mechanic, and yes, even the right oyster guy.
